During an ordinary meeting on 11 October, the IFAB Board of Directors approved trials with new Electronic Performance and Tracking Systems (EPTS) as part of the FIFA Innovation Programme. 

With on-going technological advancements, it was agreed to test new types of technologies and devices to evaluate their benefit to the game.
