The International Football Association Board (IFAB) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards. We strive to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards and are continuously working to improve the user experience for everyone.

Conformance status

In compliance with Art. 10 para. 1 of the Swiss Disability Discrimination Decree (“Behindertengleichstellungsverordnung”) and the European Accessibility Act, The IFAB adheres to the national and international accessibility standard WCAG 2.1 Level AA as a guideline.

This standard helps make websites usable for people with disabilities through three compliance levels (A, AA, and AAA). While many sections of our site already fulfill the required principles, some areas still need improvement to reach full AA compliance:

  • Buttons lacking descriptive text or labels.
  • Links that open in a new tab or window without informing the user.
  • Links without descriptive text or labels.
  • Interactive elements missing visible focus indicators.
  • Form fields without associated <label> elements or descriptive text.
  • Text and images with insufficient color contrast.
  • Images missing alt attributes.
  • Decorative images not properly marked or with empty alt attributes.
  • Image links lacking descriptive alt attributes.
  • Media player lacking keyboard support, visible focus indicators, clear labels, and sufficient contrast.
  • Audio content missing transcripts, clear structure, metadata, or accessible file formats.
  • Video content missing captions, transcripts, audio descriptions, sufficient contrast, accessible controls, or allowing auto-play.
  • Published documents lacking proper headings, logical reading order, tables of contents, consistent text formatting, sufficient contrast, alt text or long descriptions for images, semantic tables and lists, descriptive link text, and captions or transcripts for media.
